Getting Help for Your Acne

Even if your acne is mild, you might want some help with it. It is always advisable to contact a dermatologist if you have acne or if you find any abnormalities in your skin. Most of us feel that if the acne is mild, self medication will be effective and that there is no need for any acne help, but the fact remains that if you contact a dermatologist, he would be able to give you an idea about the cause of your acne and the options that can be utilized for acne treatment.

Acne help becomes absolutely essential if you find that your self medication is not working. If the medication you are using is not working properly you should not wait to contact a dermatologist. If you don’t get proper acne help, even a mild acne case can turn into a severe problem, possibly resulting in a lot of pain and permanent scarring.

Before visiting a dermatologist, you should jot down as much information about the condition of your acne as you can. This helps the doctor form a proper case study of you. You should be able to tell your dermatologist how long you have had acne, what type of acne do you get and what you have tried to do to cure it. It is also helpful to tell him whether there is any history of acne in your family; did your parents suffer from it or did your siblings have acne? All this information will be helpful to the dermatologist.

If you are allergic to certain medicines, let your doctor know. Acne help might include oral medication and it is necessary that your doctor knows about any other conditions you may have as well as any allergies. You may need to take antibiotics either in the form of pills or in the form of lotions and creams. In more severe cases, you would have to take both the forms.

It is imperative that you follow the directions of your dermatologist. Take the medication as it is prescribed to you. If your acne clears up, don’t stop taking medicines. Continue with the medications until stated otherwise by your dermatologists. There is always a chance of recurrence of the acne. If you have any problems or the acne flares up again, let your dermatologist know.

If your acne is severe, it may take time to heal. Be patient. Acne is really a very common occurrence and as such if you take proper acne help, there is no reason why it can’t be cured.
